Other Interests

In addition to music, Jon's other passions include:

Mazda MX-5 Miatas

Since 2002 Jon has owned three Miata sportscars, one from each generation. He currently modifies and drives a 2006 Winning Blue Sport with which he's won a number of judged and peoples choice awards at various New England car shows. His wife Lyn drives a 1999 Miata, so they are a two Miata family.

Jon is active in the Mass Miata club and is currently its Vice President. He enjoys planning and leading day, weekend and week-long club trips. Extended trips he has organized and led include:

Here is a photo album of Jon's most recent extended Mass Miata trip.

Jon proposed the idea for a Mass Miata sponsored regional event, and he is currently heading up a committee that is organizing Fall for New England to be held in October 2012. It is attracting Miatas afficiandos throughout the eastern and mid-western US and Canada.

Scuba Diving and Underwater Photography

Jon and Lyn are advanced open water and nitrox certified scuba divers. They have each logged over 100 dives since 2004 on dive trips to: Jon and Lyn consider themselves warm water divers only, and don't dive the cold waters off the New England coast (at least not yet...).

Here is a photo album of their most recent dive trip.

Teardrop Trailers

Jon recently built a lightweight teardrop trailer that he is using for travelling to dulcimer festivals and for camping trips with fellow TearJerkers.

If you are wondering what a teardrop trailer is check out the Teardrop and Tiny Travel Trailers forum for lots of pictures and information.

As a possible next build project Jon is investigating the WaWa-180 teardrop standup trailer that was popular in Europe from the mid 1950s into the early 1970s (when the factory burned down).
