For people interested in getting started with the Hammered Dulcimer I've prepared
a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) of
commonly asked questions and my answers about acquiring and learning to play
the dulcimer. It contains general and regional information you may find
helpful, especially for people living in the New England area - give it a click...
What's New? Many of the
Workshop handouts
for classes I teach at dulcimer festivals are now available online
I play a 4 octave Cloud Nine 17/16/8 chromatic dulcimer (pictured at the left) made
in Ohio by Michael Allen. Previous instruments included an R.L. Tack Pro*3,
and Dusty Strings D500B and D10 models.
Please
email me if you're interested in lessons or having me perform for your event.
Much of my performing is for New England Contra Dances. I help sponsor and regularly peform in
Northboro, MA at a dance on the 3rd Saturday of each month (Sept. thru May) with
the The Polymorphous String Band (with Evy Dueck, Dick Hyland, and Lyn Paul).
I'm also a member of the band Wild Card (formerly named contras.com) with Vince O'Donnel (fiddle), Robin Kynoch (whistle), and Terry Traub (piano).
Other public dances I regularly play at include Worcester, Providence RI, Hartford and Chaplan CT, the Cambridge VFW, and dances at the Concord MA Scout House. Please stop by and say hello if you're in the area!
For booking information for the Polymorphous String Band and Wild Card please send
